The Big Rip
So now there's a thing called The Big Rip. For those who don't follow the ever-changing fate of the universe: there used to be two major projections of how how the universe would eventually end. 1) Gravity takes over, slows the expansion of the universe down (we are expanding, you know), and makes everything go Crunch. This one was dreamed up by Nestle. 2) The universe just keeps on expanding and encounter a heat death. In order to do work, you must move energy from a higher level to a lower level. The projection is that if we use up all the available energy by transferring heat, then everything will be one "temperature" and nothing will happen. Booooring.

But now there's a big rip in which the the very fabric of our existence (our in the universal sense) could just, well, rip apart. These theories seem to get more and more weird by the year. Next year, you know they're working on another theory that's like the expansionist model and the big rip combined? Yeah, it states that the universe will continue expanding but eventually the distances will be so great that the space-time fabric of will rip apart (rather than the entire system of our being). This rip will produce a high pressure blast from material outside of our known universe, decimating our own. It's called The Big Fart.

I hope that doesn't happen. It would stink.

Haha. Well said. Though I hear it wouldn't be much of a ruckus. It will be silent, but deadly.
