So 1and1, my host(ess?), leaves me hanging without answers for a couple of days (site was down and screwy if all 3 of your didn't notice). Arg. Then they restore things, but it seems like they had to use a backup version. Not too much worry for the blog since I just had to rebuild some entries. But for my anime blog, there might be some big problems. Lots of screenshots and such are simply not there anymore. WTF? So the backup happened before my upload? So they've lost a whole chunk of data? WTF mates?! Time for another e-mail...

Well, at least they had proper backups. I didn't, and when my server died, I couldn't restore the MT databases -- had to do that by hand, by creating import text files for hundreds of entries.
it's all about good backups, man.can't live without 'em.

Damn. Yeah, that does suck. 1and1 must do it weekly or something so they restored the contents to the way it was somewhere around 5/13. The SQL DB is on a different server (I'm assuming) so that didn't seem to get affected. The result is that all entires were left intact (just a rebuild did the trick) but any extra info like pics and stuff bit the dust.
