Spider-Man 2
After NOT following tradition yesterday, I decided to go with the hoi poloi today and see Spider-Man 2. It was good (surprise?). A bit more dramatic and angsty than the first, but also somewhat more complicated. Peter Parker/Spider-Man gets a bit deeper, though he did come off as sort of a vacillating whiner at times, yanking Mary Jane around on emotional strings. There were some funny moments too, one of which I will say here but you won't understand unless you see the movie: Spider-Man is not the messiah, neither is he "The One" despite the miracle he just performed. Handle him according to circumstancial efficiency, not ridiculous religious reverence.

After getting out of the theater, two random guys in a van pulled up to me and tried to sell me Armani suits. The driver was trying to do the smooth talking ("Hello friend! I am Italian, are you Italian?"...no shit Sherlock. Can't you see I'm about as Italian as they get?) while his passenger seemed to be sitting rather uncomfortably. After listening to their spiel, I said sorry, I don't want or need Armani suits goodbye. Now I wonder why I did that. It was obvious from the get go the unctuous man of questionable suit-selling was just trying to scam me or something. Why did I not tell them I don't have time for their little game? Why did I not tell them "I'm not interested sooner?" Why did I not tell them that I am allergic to clothes and then babble at them in chinese?
