Combine Music and CS
I like Music. A lot. Otherwise I wouldn't be studying for a PhD in music theory (ok, maybe I'm just moronically crazy). But I also like computer science and programming and such. Designing and creating solutions to problems is just fun. People always say, "why don't you combine the two?" Well, cause the Cisco Shanghai office beat me to it. Nobody is going to find this great except me but: the conference rooms are all named after classical composers! Way cool! I wanted to sit in Chopin but that was locked so I settled for Haydn, which is the conference room right behind the front desk (Mozart got the shaft and was put to the side).

And oh, jetlag enables me to sleep very little, and the office is pretty cool.

I love Chopin! Do they have pictures and corresponding music in there as well? You must try for the Chopin room another day. Have fun!

Music theory was a painful part of my exam-based (UK's Trinity College) music education. I have my piano teacher's displeased mien etched into my memory. Oh, and LOTS of eraser dust.

Carolyn: Will try for the chopin room today.

Shryh: I apologize on behalf of my field for the pain it has inflicted upon you. I promise the academic (versus the pedagogical) version is much different. Though better or worse I won't say...
