It's been raining (horror of horrors) in Santa Barbara/Goleta, and the rest of Southern California, it seems, for a few days. Looked out my window and caught the pool and the sky conspiring to cast a blue glow over everything. And amaingly this time, I like the colors in the picture as is. Photoshop was unnecessary.

I think it would have been better to focus on the house and leave the foreground unfocused

Nah, the house is specifically boring and ugly. Wanted to avoid that. I tried both versions and the house was just not nearly as interesting as the rain. This was about as good as I could make out of a rather mundane scene.

shoot, i forgot, last week i posted a comment on albert's site that specifically says he doesn't suck (albert@doesnt.suck.anymore in response to his marathon)...so I need to figure out what school he goes to now
