Expensive Habit
I drink (too much) wine and, like photography, it's become a significant enough a part of my life to warrant a space on the blog (more significant, actually, in terms of money and time spent). Things to take note of at some point (wines with which I'm familiar):
  • M. Ray Cabernet Sauvignon (2000) - Good Martin Ray substitute
  • Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc (2002) - My favorite light white so far. Hint of peach. 99% Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • Robert Mondavi Oakville District Cabernet Sauvignon (2000) - Perfectly fruity cabernet. Huge fan.
  • Beringer Carneros District Reserve Chardonnay (2001) - Good chardonnay, though the Mondavi reserve (same vintage) I like better. Both are well balanced and a bit heavier than the fume blanc.
  • Beringer Sparkling White Zinfandel (2003) - Horrific. Avoid at all costs.
  • Beringer Riseling (forget year) - Good budget riesling. Good deal when on sale for $5 or below.
  • Beringer Founder's Estate Shiraz (1999) - Nice budget Shiraz. Not so smooth but spicy and goes well with chocolate.
  • Charles Shaw Shiraz, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc (various years) - The staple wines at an unbeatable price!
  • Fetzer Gewurtraminer (forget year) - Too fruity/full a Gewurtztraminer though it isn't bad at all. But I much prefer the Beringer...or even better the Beringer Riesling.
  • Sutter Home Moscato and Sauvignon Blanc (forget years) - Both too sweet. The Moscato is like high fructose corn syrup and the sauvignon blanc is like a moscato.
  • Trader Joe's Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc (various) - Another good budget series. Reliable but not special.
  • Schloss Wahlhausen Riesling (forget year) - BEST RIESLING EVER. Must find this again somewhere...
I need to acquire more oenological adjectives...

You need to go out and use the wine to get laid.
