January 22nd - Double Digits
Mileage: 10.2
Time: 100 minutes
Feeling: Sore

So after the impromptu IKEA run (and thus no running) on Friday, I thought I'd be a bit more ambitious today. Advice is to never try to "make up" any runs and to try not to increase distance by more than 10% in one run. My distances have been 3, 4.5 (ok), 5 (perfectly fine!), 6.9 (that takes a while) and then 10 (ugh). So 50% increase (originaly plan to run 9 miles) today over last Saturday. The run itself actually felt fine for the most part. Wasn't trying to run fast or anything and settled into my 10 min/mile pace. Felt pretty geriatric by mile 9 though and couldn't really run any faster than I was running.

I think up to 7 miles, I was just acclimating my body to what it should be able to do anyway. The 10.2 today really starts to push my biomechanical limits. My left hip started hurting starting at mile 2 and the inner sides of my knees were a bit beaten at the end (probably from pronation). On the other hand, I've compressed 5 weeks of training into two and am now caught up. Next week is an easy week (7 mile saturday) so I'll have a chance to rest up too.
