March 30th - OW!
After the run last night, I got back and realized I couldn't walk or bend my knee without nearly screaming out loud with pain. OK, so I'm a pansy but it hurt pretty bad. Straight leg, no problem. Fully bent, no problem. But somewhere in between straight and bent, my left leg screams bloody murder and feels like somebody is trying to pull my tendons away from my bone. Something inside and on the left side of my knee is not happy with me. Very nervous about this pains so got some icy hot, an ice pack, and a knee brace today. Temporarily (right now), I can walk and I don't feel too much pain bending my left leg so I assume it is just an over-stress injury and not some kind of broken something or another. Going to take an extra day or two to make sure it's healed and slowly push back up to 18. Training schedule leaves about 3 weeks between the 20 miler and the marathon. I think I'll leave myself about 2 so that I can take the 18/20 at an easier pace. Still very nervous and hoping my legs will bounce back quickly. I am not built for running.
