Time: ~120 minutes
Feeling: Exahusted
Didn't quite reach my goal of 15 miles today but perhaps that's asking too much after a week of ITBS recovery and then only two back to back 6 mile days. On the other hand, both my legs feel perfectly fine after today's run. Took some time to reinvent my stride and I think it's working. ITBS and other aches and pains associated with inflammed innards are totally absent. Used much more energy than normal doing this though...that and the sun was a bit brutal this afternoon.
On the other hand, around mile 10 and definitely by mile 11, I stopped being able to generate much energy. Probably because I didn't have enough carbs earlier in the day but what stopped me today wasn't my legs. I just could no longer breathe properly and everything became labored. My stomach also felt like it was trying to digest itself. Definitely one of the hardest runs I've done but a great learning experience. If I can hit 16-ish Thursday and 20-ish Sunday, I'll be a bit more confident about being able to finish the marathon.
And speaking of learning experiences: never run with boxer briefs (I forgot to change into briefs today). Holy chafeage Batman!
